Very little can go wrong with your GSM Opener, but in case you need us we are
here to help..
Before you contact us have a look at the table below and see if your problem
is listed there.
Here are some of the most common questions we are asked. The solutions are
simple and we can guide you through anything you are unsure of.

|
| There are no
lights on the GSM unit? |
There can be two reasons
for this.
- There is no or not enough power to operate the
unit.
- The unit is faulty.
|
- Check you have 12 to 24 AC or DC power with a
meter. If you are not sure ask someone qualified to check this for
you. If the power is not as stated by the controller manufacturer
you should assume the power supply is faulty. You can obtain an
external power supply from us meaning the GSM unit is independent of
the controllers power supply.
- Contact us and we will go through some more
checks with you then arrange to swap the unit.
|
| Red LED is constantly on? |
This can be one of two problems.
- The SIM card is not inserted properly.
- The power supply on your control board is not
powerful enough to supply the unit.
|
- Turn the power off on the unit. Remove the SIM
card and gently clean the contacts before re-inserting. Turn on the
power and wait for a green flashing LED every 4 seconds.
- If the light is still on, call us and we will
supply you with a mains adaptor to run the unit from. It is likely
that your control panel is one of the 1% of boards in the UK that do
not give out the claimed power supply for the accessories circuit.
|
| The unit pulses when it
receives a call but the gate or door does not open? |
This can be one of two problems.
- The connections are wrong.
- The pulse length is not long enough.
|
- Please check all wiring to the controller panel.
Ensure you have the yellow wires connected to the 'button' or across
the COMMON and OPEN circuit*.
- The unit is defaulted to 300ms pulse time. Some
controller need longer to acknowledge the trigger pulse. Check the
manual for how to increase this time up to 900ms.
|
| The unit does not send
confirmation texts? |
- The SIM card does not have enough credit on it to
send text messages.
|
- Top up the SIM card
|
| The unit has a green light
flashing every 4 seconds but nothing happens? |
- The SIM card has not been topped up and it has
been disconnected from the network.
|
- Top up or replace the SIM Card. New SIM cards can
be obtained from
GSM-Secure.co.uk
for £2.
|
| There is a rapid flashing
red light when the unit is turned on? |
- The SIM card is locked or barred.
|
- Insert the SIM card in your mobile and contact
your network provider for the PUK code to unlock it. Prior to
inserting the SIM card back into the unit turn the power off and
back on on your mobile phone and check you are not requested to
enter a PIN number. If you are asked for PIN number, this must be
disabled prior to re-inserting back into the GSM unit.
|
| The gate or door opens every
couple of minutes with no calls? |
- The SIM card has the voicemail turned on and
someone has left a message. This will only happen if the unit is in
'open mode'.
|
- Remove SIM from the unit and put into your mobile
phone. Disable Voicemail as instructed by the SIM card manual or
network operator.
|
| The unit does not respond to
some callers? |
- Caller ID is blocked on the users phone.
|
- Remove the Caller ID block and check this by
calling another phone and seeing if the number is shown on the
screen.
|
| The unit sometimes does not
respond to a call or the call says the number is not available? |
- The signal level is not strong enough.
|
- Request a signal strength text message. If the
signal is below 8 then we recommend changing the network provider to
one that offers better coverage or moving the aerial with a patch
cable to the outside of the panel. If no network provider can offer
you service, contact us within 30 days and we will offer you a full
refund on the GSM unit. This is very very rare these days as at
least one network should offer a good service. Test the signal with
your mobile.
